This week I link you to an essay written by Richard Heinberg, senior fellow at the Post Carbon Institute. The essay, entitled “Fight of the Century”, outlines the various avenues by which people and governments will adapt to developing energy and climate realities. By engaging in a thought exercise, Heinberg clearly articulates the various scenarios that could play out in the near term. We planners should take some time to consider these scenarios when formulating and advocating planning policies. In short, we need to start planning for the future that’s coming our way.
